Harvest Time

Starting Clivia Seeds in Arid Climates

Part 7

Orange flowered clivia with yellow berries

Orange Flowered Clivias with Yellow Berries

The plant in the photo shows the berries from July/Aug, 2000, now ripening. Although not a yellow clivia, the berries are yellow. They are in the foreground in the yellow netting.

There are 3 bunches of berries in the red netting, they are from flowers of Feb this year [2001] and it is now pushing the next July [2001] flowers as can be seen emerging at the base of the leaves.

This plant stands dangerously close to our driveway and every now and again a car wheel hits a piece of it. I want to transplant it but I am scared that I will lose the double flower season, it also had flowers in Feb 2000. Maybe it likes the exhaust fumes of the passing automobiles. Thought it may be of interest to those who want to plant their clivias next to a driveway.

Regards, Loukie
