CliviaNet: Pollination with Tweezers

A Tip from
Connie and James Abel

Some time ago we came upon a pair of tweezers at a flea market that are mixed up - squeeze and they open, release and they close themselves (perhaps invented in Ireland?).

Having large and clumsy fingers, the tweezers are very useful for plucking off an anther as it then holds firmly while one brushes the stigmas, whereas with conventional tweezers one must keep the pressure on.

Tweezers

We understand that they may be used by numismatists or in the medical profession. The only problem is that none of our friends have been able to source a similar pair, so these have to be guarded zealously.

Happy multiplying,
Connie and James Abel,
Pretoria
