The Daylily Place
The following pictures of seedlings and comments are contributed by members of the Daylily E-Mail Robin for your enjoyment.
This is a cross of IDA'S MAGIC X MY DARLING CLEMENTINE which has shown some tendency to double but it is the substance....like a wax candle that really interests me. This is one of the two seedlings that bloomed in 8 months after I grew them under metal halide lights over the Winter.
Bloom and scape were remeasured to be 26"/4", a pale butter yellow with a 1/4" - 3/8" metalllic gold edge with a deeper orange-yellow among the folds.
The second seedling is IDA'S MAGIC X SOMETHING WONDERFUL, with a 30" scape holding 6" blooms. The base color is a pale cream with a blush of pink, pale orchid mid-ribs and a thick metallic gold edge. more ruffled and pleated than the IM X MDC cross. Now I have to see if they will survive a Winter.
