Spring in South Africa -- September or October 2005

We are planning a botanical tour of South Africa in the South African Spring of 2005. We expect to spend about two weeks there in September or October. There will be a licensed South African tour guide and driver leading the tour, and a professional botanist will join the group for the botanical sites. Accommodations will be mainly small bed and breakfast hotels. We expect to fly into Johannesburg and to return home from Cape Town.

2. Gauteng/Limpopo/Mpumalanga:

   • Gods Window and other botanical sites as time permits
   • 1 day and 2 nights at a game park/private game reserve in Mpumalanga
3. Fly to Cape Town
4. Western Cape:
   8 Days
   • Postberg Nature Reserve near Langebaan lagoon
   • Versveld Wild Flower Reserve near Darling
   • Kirstenbosch National Botanic Institute
   • Karoo Desert Botanic Garden
   • Cape Point
   • Botanic garden and the greenhouses at the University in Stellenbosch
   • Cape Seed & Bulb Nursery
5. Fly home from Cape Town

The northern part of the tour will be led by Mr. Joern Seidler and the southern part by Mr. Gino Nicolella.
