Physan 20 and Consan 20 are well known to orchid growers, especially in the U.S.A. They are also quaternary ammonium detergents with batericidal, fungicidal, and sporicidal properties. Use in accordance with label directions.
Other disinfectants that can be used on seeds -- up to the point of germination but not after -- include ordinary drugstore hydrogen peroxide solution (3%) diluted down anywhere from 2:1 to 10:1 or hypochlorite laundry bleach (sodium hypochlorite, ca 5%) diluted about 10:1 to 20:1 with tap water. The more dilute solutions can be used longer, when soaking seeds in disinfectants.
